Weekly Campaign Update

Chorlton Meadows

There have been some amendments to the plans put forward for the football pitches; these have been submitted without any consultation with local residents. The amendments are minor, effectively moving the floodlight pitch out of the Site of Biological Interest area but closer to nearby residents.
The all weather pitch plus floodlighting is planned to be operational every weekday evening until 10 am, making this clearly a commercial development.

Local campaigners are calling for objections to the new plans, prior to November 19th, when the developers are hoping for a decision prior to applying for funding in January.
For full details see new plans

Sunday Nov 8th - Picnic on the Meadows. 2pm - 3pm at the threatened meadows site. For details of this see the Facebook Event.

No Mega Tesco Campaign

The demonstration last Wednesday (21st) outside Trafford Town Hall achieved good coverage in the Manchester Evening News
Greens from Trafford and Manchester were among around 40 demonstrators with placards reminding Trafford's councillors of their own policies with regard to protecting local shops. Judging from the response of passing motorists and pedestrians, the campaign against what would be one of the UK's largest Tesco's has widespread support.
The application is now expected to be submitted this week - watch this space...
